Have you ever walked into a room and immediately felt like you were exactly where you were supposed to be? And not necessarily because you knew everyone. In fact, sometimes it's the complete opposite.
You don't know a single person, but within minutes you're talking to someone who's asking the same questions you've been asking, building something similar, or introducing you to someone you probably wouldn't have met otherwise. I've learned to never underestimate those moments.
As someone who spends a lot of time in community spaces, I've realized that the rooms that move us forward rarely look the way we expect them to. They're not always the biggest conferences or the events with the longest guest list. Sometimes they're founder breakfasts with a dozen people. A coworking day where conversations happen between meetings. A dinner where every seat around the table was chosen with intention. A neighborhood gathering where someone simply says, "There's someone you should meet."
That's the difference. Those rooms carry a certain kind of energy. And ultimately, they became the inspiration behind our In the Room series at Two Degrees.
We wanted to move beyond posting event recaps and instead tell the story of the spaces where connection is actually happening. Who was in the room? What brought everyone together? What conversations sparked new ideas? What made people stay after the event was technically over?
I've built my career at the intersection of culture, creativity, and community, and one thing has remained true everywhere I've gone: people flourish when they feel like they belong. It's the same belief that brought me to Two Degrees.
I've always believed we're closer than we think. Closer to the people who can challenge us. Closer to opportunities than we realize. Closer to communities already doing incredible work. We just don't always know where to find them.
That's what we're beginning to explore. Rather than creating more events, we're interested in helping people discover the rooms that already exist, the ones being created every day by founders, creatives, organizers, and community leaders who care deeply about bringing people together.
I truly believe the right room doesn't have to be crowded to be impactful. It just has to bring together the right people. And maybe that's the real value of community. Not necessarily about knowing everyone, but about recognizing the moment when a room starts to feel like it was meant for you, and then choosing to step fully into it.
So consider this your invitation. We're bringing you into the rooms where meaningful connections are already happening. Rooms that are ready to welcome your presence and the people who can contribute to what you're building, no matter where you are in your journey.
